Stainer

1920s Jacob Stainer copy
A superb sound in a medium priced instrument
Far and away, the favorite vintage instrument of country fiddlers. The Stainer design produces a strong fundamental, with plenty of projection and very even overtones. This is one of the many German factory replicas of the famous Stainer instrument.

Lyon & Healy Stradivarius

Lyon & Healy Stradivarius style
Early 1900s

Michel Deconet

1920s Michel Deconet French copy
Excellent sounding instrument!
The original Michel-made violins in Venice, Italy in the mid-1700s that were noted for their excellent craftsmanship and rich, singing tone. Commercial copies with his label were produced by both the French and German shops in the early 1900s. Even though at the time they were thought of as student grade instruments, this one, French made, has proven to be an exceptional instrument for the Celtic player. Rich and powerful, it's bright tone carries easily. With case.

Magini

1920s Magini copy
Upscale German factory violin
There were many Magini-style instruments with their double purfling that emerged from the factories in Mittenwald, Germany prior to the mid 1930s. The workmanship and choice of woods in this one seems to be exceptional. That quality is definitely carried over to the sound.

Hofner Ladies 4/4

1960s Hofner "ladies" 4/4
A little more comfortable for the smaller player
Another fine spruce and maple Hofner factory violin. This example could qualify as a 7/8 size instrument. Just slightly shorter scale and a little smaller than a traditional 4/4. This was originally marketed as a "ladies violin." The tone is just perfect for Old Time fiddling no matter who's holding the bow. With hard case.

Zanoli style

20th Century Zanoli
Zanoli Style 4/4
Giacomo Zanoli was an 18th Century Italian maker whose instruments  were known for their beautiful treble response. This copy, probably Czech in origin, pays homage to Zanoli and is a remarkable sounding instrument on its own. The person who obtains this will get a true treasure that's worthy of the concert hall, or will be heard a full parking lot away at the next bluegrass festival. This one really rings! With case.

1890s Amati style

Late 19th century Amati copy
A fine sounding instrument!
The Amati family produced some of the world's finest instruments in the 16th and 17th Centuries. As with Stradivarius, their instruments have been copied by the thousands. Some are not worthy of new strings, but occasionally, as with this one, enough time and care went into the making of the instrument that with over 100 years of aging, it has proven to be a fine instrument. This violin sounds rich and full and has wonderfully clean separation. With case.
