Candelas "Nunes"
| In the true Hawaiian Nunes. |
| With great respect for the Nunes style uke, Tomas Delgado has crafted a beautiful sounding replica of the Nunes uke. The same mid-tone color, the rope style appointments, and above all, a beautiful tone. He has also added the modern improvement of having the set of the neck to modern standards, thus making the playing of the instrument a whole lot easier. Solid mahogany with rosewood fingerboard. Candelas M-1
| This one will fool you |
| This one will fool you! At first glance, it seems to be a Martin Tenor uke. Upon further inspection, you realize that the peghead reads "Candelas" and that Tomas Delgado has perfectly reproduced the look of the vintage Martins. Wait! Play it. The tone has been faithfully reproduced as well, this version is just a little louder! With case. |

Candelas Soprano
| Vintage sound! |
| Tomas Delgado comes from a background where the family has been making stringed instruments since 1928. He learned first hand from his father and uncle in their shop in Los Angeles. He is now making a line of big sounding ukuleles that we are privileged to carry. This soprano sized uke has a lot of volume and appointments that you would have found on ukes made in the '20s. Carvalho Cavaquinho
| Steel strung instrument from Portugal |
Quite often we get requests for a steel strung ukulele. Here is the equivalent of just such an instrument, the Portuguese Cavaquinho, predecessor to the Hawaiian ukulele. For those of you unfamiliar with the cavaquinho, it is a slotted peghead, Spruce and Rosewood ukulele scaled instrument that is outfitted with steel strings. Often tuned higher than a ukulele, it can be retrofitted with heavier strings to be played in the uke range. This beautiful instrument has wood body binding all around and was hand built in the city of Braga, Portugal. Braga has often been referred to as the "Portuguese Rome" for its concentration of religious architecture. This little instrument is truly worthy of being called another beautiful construction from Braga.
With hard case.
