Many of our pickers and players from the Bluegrass, Folk and Acoustic music community remember House of Strings and the Acoustic Expression music store. The New Expression School of Music is under the purveyance of long time San Diego musician and teacher Walt Richards.

Walt started the New Expression along with Vicki Cottle and Bob Zink back in 1972. He has remained true to the idea that anyone can play a musical instrument if they have the right teacher and dedication to practicing. For over 45 years, Walt Richards has been that teacher, and New Expression Music is proud to be the home of teaching studios to seventeen veteran musicians/instructors who are dedicated to bringing the joys of music making into the lives of all who desire it.
