Alain Cola
Alain, a long time guitar player, grew up in the south of France in a family deeply rooted in musical tradition. Alain took up the guitar in the 60's and became interested in the music of Django Reinhardt. Soon he had the opportunity to learn and play with some of the finest Gypsy guitarists of the area, among them Paul “Tchan Tchou” Vidal. He acquired a passion for that music which never left him.

In 1993, Alain founded Gypsy Jazz, a unique acoustic jazz trio playing the music of Django Reinhardt. For a few years, they played various venues including many of San Diego’s finest restaurants, hotels, private parties, and festivals. They were featured on a one hour show for television Channel 24 with various local artists.
In 1998, with another French expatriate Alain founded the Hot Club of San Diego. From the beginning, the HCSD has enjoyed an ever expanding following through live performances as well as Cd sales. In addition to club dates, concerts and private parties, HCSD has appeared on local televison and radio and opened at numerous festivals for the world’s leading Gypsy player. Their first CD entitled West Swing received high praise by both US and French reviewers.
In addition to playing rhythm guitar for Hot Club of San Diego, Alain Cola is known throughout Gypsy jazz circles as one of its leading promoters.
