1977 Ovation Balladeer Special: Hard to remember a singer-guitarist back in the '70s who didn't perform with an Ovation (remember Cat Stevens?) The features that drove the players to Ovation guitars were a slim, yet strong neck, reduced feedback when amplified, and above all, they were practically indestructible. The back & sides were made from a composite synthetic which Ovation called "Lyrachord" that was originally developed to produce light weight helicopter blades.
